Moving abroad and must take most of house contents,where do i start with this,how do i get all luggage to the?

airport?Hi everyone i will be moving in a couple of months and i have no ideas on how to organize it,i have 8 large pieces of furniture i need to bring,and lots of luggage,what is the best way to pack and how do i insure things?I know furniture might be expensive to ship,would it be cheaper if it went by boat?someone said ups but that would be a lot i think as they are large furniture,and for the rest of the stuff i know i cannot use large oversized cases,so is there a limit or discount you can get by bringing extra baggage the move is from the uk to san fran,any advise so much appreciated i am very stressed and don't know where to begin thanks!
